The month of December! [31 Dec 2006|10:37pm]
Wow, it's the last month of the year again! Here's hoping that everybody had a fantastic 2006 and may the year 2007 be an even better one! =)

A gathering at KAP Macs after carolling:

From left (front): Xinrong, Jiayi, Maggie, ZIyang, Victor, Wenjie, Monica
From left (behind): Fiona, Joyce, Xingying

The main lead at our December gathering on the 30th:

Does it look delicious or what? This turkey, unlike it's many other dry and tough compatriots, is actually tender and juicy. Many thumbs up to Wenjie for an impressive showing!

Also included in the feast were: Brandy fruit cake (the cherries were soaked in Brandy), smoked salmon, spring rolls, peach (or is it apricot) and burnt asparagus wrapped with bacon (haha...the asparagus was burnt beyond recognition), salad, almond jelly, and some red wine. YUM. =D

We also spent the evening watching "tv with 3D effects", where every character has 2 pairs of eyes - 1 red and 1 green. They also look slightly transparent. Even the bars showing the volume level appeared to be falling out of the tv. Haha.

October 1st: It's Children's Day! [04 Oct 2006|07:11pm]
Well, there is actually nothing much to be excited about since none of us are anywhere near the age to qualify for a Children's Day gift anyway (who could forget those funny, and pretty useless, gifts we used to receive from our primary schools?).

Nevertheless, we got ourselves excited about the mid-autumn festival cum October gathering with home-cooked pineapple rice, home-made mooncakes, home-made curry chicken, pomelo, wine, and even lanterns and sparklers!

The chef with his assistant, Monica. It really looks like hard work, check out the glistening sweat on Wenjie's face!

Lavender snowskin mooncake. We also had rose snowskin mooncake, which was in a lovely shade of pink.

Weiting looks happy sitting between the wine-drinking Youjie and Ben.

Listen y'all, the 大姐大 is talking!

The guys poring over the 50th anniversary yearbook that Jiayi bought when we went to the anniversary dinner in September.

It doesn't matter if you're black or white. *ducks from tomatoes.* Cheers to years of friendship! =p

Timo entertaining us with games and funny expressions.

(Who were there? Jiayi, Maggie, Wenjie, Xinrong, Fiona, Xingying, Weiting, Euphie, Geraldine, Huiwen, Wanling, Monica, Ziyang, Youjie, Ben, Timo, Lionel.)

不醉不归 [04 Sep 2006|11:32pm]
Wine, Old Chang Kee food, swiss rolls, white chocolate mousse cake, " trifle-misu", Indian poker, Asshole Daidi, and some game where you guess what you can bring and what you cannot bring to a party (e.g. I can bring vodka but not rum.), and great company summed up the September gathering.

White chocolate mousse cake with dark choco rasps & champagne grapes on the side.

I think the "trifle-misu" has whisky inside too, it's really 不醉不归, haha. Couldn't get a shot of the "trifle-misu". We literally dug in and after that, it just wasn't that picture-worthy anymore!

Joyce joined us this time round!

Next gathering: first Sunday of October (Oct 1), after carolling practice! See ya there! =)

A sea of familiar, and not-so-familiar faces... [07 Aug 2006|04:59pm]
We had a very encouraging turn-out at the BBQ on Sunday.

2nd row from left: Jiayi, Ruimin, Dean, Guoliang, Kelvin, Bernice, Euphie, Wenjie, Andy.
1st row from left: Yingying, Xiuxian, Geraldine, Adeline, Weiting, Maggie, Fiona, Xingying, Xinrong.

The batch with the most people present was the 2000 batch.

The youngest representative was Lionel from the class of 2002.

The gang with the most seniority  (including people like Jiayi and Dean) graduated in 1994. =p

To put things into perspective, let's recall a snippet from the evening.

Fiona: “Unnnnnncle!”
Dean: *points accusing finger.* “你想清楚一点! 你叫我'uncle'?!"

OH, we even had uninvited guests.

                                                                        -

For some, it was a chance to catch up with folks they've not seen since graduation from RV, or since they-can't-remember-when-anyway.

For others, it was a time to gasp at how some people's looks have changed, or not changed over the years.

Jiayi on Ruimin, "How can you not recognise him? He looks the same!"

And for some others, it was an opportunity to know MORE about one another through some "heart-to-heart" conversation, otherwise known as the "I've never" game. Somebody makes a comment starting with that phrase, and whoever has done whatever is mentioned has to drink as forfeit.

"I've never ...had a one-night-stand before."

*Everyone turns to stare at one person.*
*He hesitates, then picks his cup to drink.*
Hmmm~~~

It was also a session for sharing cold jokes. Example given:
Andy: "Why did the snail cross the road?"
Euphie: "To get to the other side."
...
Wenjie: "I think the snail is sliding on ice."
     –brrr-

*Disclaimer: These snippets are reproduced to the best of my memory and not verbatim. Please do not throw a slander case my way, thanks. =p

                                                                         -

Special thanks go out to our big chef, Wenjie, for providing us with a fantastic array of food. Seriously, this is one of the best barbeques I've been to, and I'm sure many agree too. =) Special thanks also go out with Jiayi for putting her essay aside to drive the food and us to West Coast Park.

Once again, thanks go out to everyone who came down and had fun! If you weren't able to make it this time, there's always the next month!

We'll keep you updated, and till then!

A brand new blog to start off a brand new year of activities! [17 Jul 2006|12:17am]
As you know, we had our Annual General Meeting on 8th July 2006 (Saturday) at Jiayi's OTHER house to conclude a year of activity and to plan for a more exciting one ahead.

I wish we had photos to show you, but we were too busy to take any.

First, we were enjoying fried chicken, which dubiously came in a truck that read “Sanitary and …”

Then we had our 2-for-1 pizza. (Andy was musing about calling Canadian pizza and trying to order just 1 pizza, out-rightly rejecting the other one. Hmmm.)

We were also treated to Mee Siam, whipped up by our big chef Wenjie.

And, best of all, we had a mango-pieces-on-top-of-fresh-cream cake made by the same big chef, whom Guoliang said should really just start an online catering service.

Examples of his past works:

Cantaloupe Mousse Cake.

Chee Cheong Fun Salad Roll.

Golden Fried Rice With Egg White Omelette.

Anyway, that was one big digression and, we're really not trying to entice.

To kick-start the brand new year of activities, we've decided to have a BBQ at West Coast Park on 6th August 2006 (Sunday), featuring works by the great chef himself. It will be the first of our monthly gatherings, which we hope more of you would attend.

Additional details will be provided at a later date, but in the meanwhile, keep that day free! =)

-EDIT-
Date: 6 August 2006 (Sunday)
Time: 6 pm
Venue: West Coast Park Pit 11
